As a mum who’s been guiding my children through their GCSE journey, I’ve discovered an incredible tool that has transformed the way we approach exam preparation!
This website offers instant, high-quality feedback on most GCSE exam question responses. It also provides feedback on A-level exam questions, (however, I don’t have experience of using this feature).
You can submit typed or handwritten work—even messy handwriting is mostly readable! Just take a picture of your handwritten response and upload it.
The site is called Tilf and for me it’s been nothing short of revolutionary. I find Tilf invaluable in helping me assess my children’s essays and exam responses.
If your child is preparing for GCSEs right now, this invaluable tool will speed up the process of writing better responses to get the best grades.
It gets even better. It mark answers according to the specific mark schemes of different exam boards. We have used it primarily for English Language and Literature, RE and History, but whatever subject you want feedback on, this tool marks specific to the subject and board.
It won’t improve your child’s grades instantly, but we have used it consistently over several months and it has played a big role in helping us to identify how to improve their responses to get those higher grades.
The best way to benefit from it is to act on the feedback. Reading the feedback and re-writing responses based on the feedback, has been a large factor in improving the grades for my son, who improved 3 grades for English Literature in the course of his Year 11. I’m now using for my daughter who is currently studying for her GCSEs.
In fact, while I’ve been using this site for my kids these past several months, I’ve also paid subject specialist tutors to assess the exam question my kids were doing for the GCSE exam preparation to see how they were progressing and get next steps feedback.
Whilst the tutors provide excellent feedback, the site’s feedback is often just as good. The phrasing of the feedback was also very useful, as often times we could use the feedback phrasing and incorporate it into the answers directly.
With the questions we submitted to Tilf and a tutor, the site gave the same levels as the tutor, complete with detailed suggestions for improvement.
Once you’ve made the suggested changes, you can resubmit your essay and see if you’ve achieved the grade you’re aiming for. This process of immediate feedback and redrafting can significantly accelerate learning and improve your understanding of the material.
This tool has also saved me so much money!
The monthly cost is less than what I was paying for teachers to mark and give feedback on just one paper so it has turned out to be incredibly cost-effective.
I highly recommend giving it a go—especially if your children are aiming for top grades.
Click the link, and start using Tilf. It’s a brilliant tool that can make a real difference to your child’s GCSE preparation.
